Month 6

Alison is half a year old and changing everyday. She has the best laugh and a smile that will warm anyones heart ~ she is such a blessing to our family. God is good and he keeps teaching us lessons.

Alison eats big girl food… not too sure about green beans the first time she tasted them but now she loves them. About half a cup of cereal in the morning mixed with bananas or applesauce then milk until dinner time she eats while I am making dinner (3/4 of a #1 Gerber veggie) and then about an hour later she will eat half of a #1 squash.

Alison is nosey… she likes to watch everyone. If they are working in the shop, playing games, or watching TV she loves to know what is going on.

Alison is still nursing… she tasted her first sip of formula on December 13th and ended up drinking almost 8oz that day, she stayed with her Memaw Donna so that Jessy and I could go Christmas Shopping.

Alison still only has two bottom teeth… but I swear the others are ready to pop in any day now!

Alison is in 6 mo clothes now… they look big but three month are too tight. She is still in size 3 Huggies Diapers.

Alison loves her feet... whether she is sitting down or laying on her back she is trying to get her feet! She still stares at her hands a lot too!

Alison gets up around 6:45am and helps get her brother up, then we all load up and take Jared to school, when we get home she eats breakfast and plays with Gracee. Around 9:30am it is bath time and then she takes a nap ‘til noon. Afternoon is fun time… play with mommy and wait for her sister to wake up ~ then Ali falls asleep on the ride to get Jared from school at 3pm. Night time isn’t on as much of a schedule it just sorta depends on the events we have planned. Everyone is in bed by 9:30pm… Ali wakes up one to two times at night then we start over.

Alison got her ears pierced… she went from smiling at herself in the mirror to screaming for a few minutes back to smiling for the camera again. Stacey went with us to take pictures and to top it off it was right in the middle of her nap time. She looks all grown up now.

Alison is too happy ... everyone always tells me what a sweet personality she has, she hardly ever cries, and is always smiling! She gives the best hugs... she leans into you when you kiss her or give her a hug it is soooo stinkin cute!

I can remember the day Ali was born like it just happened last night, I take tons of photos and video of her but it doesn’t change the fact that time goes by too fast. Everyday there is something new we continue to enjoy with our little people – Jared says he is ready for Alison to be big. I am still taking it all in. Life is good, thanks for learning with us.

Alison's Lessons - Month 5

How could we be so lucky… I mean really, Alison is such a blessing. She seems even sweeter on the days when I need some quiet time ~ just her and I can get away by staring at each other and laughing. She lights up when I walk in the room… month 5 lessons already.

Alison is in a size 2 diaper… we went to a three but its huge so we are back to Huggies size 2.

Alison eats cereal twice a day… in the morning while everyone eats breakfast around 9am and then again at dinner. So far she has tasted squash, applesauce and banana’s all mixed in the cereal – she isn’t a fan of squash but we will keep trying.

Ali goes to bed around 7pm and then wakes up about 30 minutes later ready to nurse and be rocked to sleep for the night ~ she will sleep until 3am then yell out for mommy, time to nurse again then she wakes with the big kids at 6:45 like clock work.

Ali still only has two teeth but I swear she is working on getting those top ones. Just took her to the doctor today in fear of being sick for Thanksgiving and they said she wasn’t sick she just must be teething.

Ali loves her siblings… Jared plays ps2 with her and she just stares at him then back the TV. Gracee likes to read books and dance for Alison and it makes them both laugh.

Ali likes to growl… “she acts like a monster” Gracee says. Its funny she really does growl and she talks a lot too… she says AAAAAAA and then smiles.

Alison is growing like a weed… she already weighs 16lbs 6oz

Ali loves to splash in the tub... she giggles and kicks her feet, bath time is so fun. Alison gets a bath right after she eats breakfast in the morning, then she nurses and takes a nap.

Alison loves her bumbo and so does mommy. It is so helpful for many reasons, she can sit on the counter when I am doing dishes or making dinner and she sits on the table while the family eats dinner. She can sit up pretty well without the bumbo too.

My sweet little angel turned five months old today… its going by so quickly I am so blessed to be able to keep her with me and learn all of her lessons with her. She is the sweetest little thing and always a good baby.

Alison's Lessons - Month 4

My sweet baby Ali is four months old (today at 1:26pm) its been an eventful month and this past week we have had some new changes… each pregnancy is different and each baby is different that is for sure! Miss Alison is always teaching me something new:

Ali is still nursing very well; I haven’t had to pump in weeks that is a good thing and a bad thing. The pump doesn’t get all the milk out like she can – but I felt like we needed to introduce cereal this week. It’s so cute she sits in her BUMBO and opens her mouth like a big girl.
Ali has two very sharp teeth… and she didn’t like them making her mouth hurt. I wasn’t sure what was going on, drooling and biting next thing you know teeth! I think we are getting the tops ones soon too!

Ali has been getting a bath right after her cereal at 930am she still loves the bath, just lays there in the warm water and lets mommy clean her up.

Ali needs a blanket to keep her up… we got the stand up saucer out of storage and Alison barely fits in it. We put blankets around her to keep her up right but she likes to stand up and look around. Gracee likes it too… she plays with the toys around the saucer and tells me she is teaching Ali to be BIG like her.

Ali is growing like a weed… I took her to the health department yesterday to update her baby book and she is 15lbs 11oz and 25 inches tall. She was so calm and full of smiles… the ladies fell in love with her.

Ali goes to bed around 8pm and sleeps until about 4 in the morning… she wakes but doesn’t open her eyes and I give her a four oz bottle and lay her back in bed on her tummy she sleeps until we leave at 730am to take Jared to school. This past week since I have been feeding her cereal at 9am and at 6pm she has slept through the night again.

Ali fits in 3-6 month baby clothes and since her sister was in a different season I had to get her a few new outfits this week… she is such a doll baby. Ali is going to be a monkey for her first Halloween.

Alison laughs out loud and is ticklish under her arm pits – Jared loves to make her laugh he says “Hi baby Ali” and then smiles and she loves it!

There is so much more but I had to narrow it down to the big stuff. Kids are fantastic and being able to be around mine everyday and watch them grow is such a blessing. Our life gets better as they teach us the little things we seem to forget when we become adults. Until next month, thanks for reading and learning with us.

Alison's Lessons - Week 13

Alison Jean is now 13 weeks old… she is so full of smiles and still as relaxed as ever. The days go by so fast, weeks even faster = it is hard to believe we are already starting to put away summer clothes and fall is here.

Alison sleeps all night. After a bath at 7 and then a little love and one on one time with mommy she goes in the swing and is fast asleep. As soon as Gracee is sleeping Alison is put on her belly in her crib.

Ali is stubborn… it took me almost twenty minutes to get her to eat from a bottle and she only took two oz. I knew she was starving and I didn’t think I had enough milk for her – she would rather tough it out and wait.

Jared wants Alison to ride in the van with us every morning even if she is just sleeping. Jared has to be in Mound City at 7:30 am for school, he loves to eat breakfast there, and usually Alison is back to sleep and doesn’t wake until 10 but he likes to look at her on the way.

Ali loves to be at home… we had a few days this week running around and Miss Ali didn’t get to sleep much ~ she really loves to know what is going to happen next (all my kids do). Not being on a schedule was different for everyone but I had to wake her up two different mornings at 7am!

Ali is started to sleep through the night, she goes to bed around 8pm and I wake her at 7am, then she is right back to sleep until 10am. Up for a little bit and then another nap! She is such a great baby.

Alison has found her thumb… and she loves it. Ali either has a really tasty thumb or she is just like her mama. We have our self a thumb sucker!

Three months old already – that just seems weird to even say out loud. I miss the tiny baby stages already but I also know how much fun there is to come. Every baby is different just like every pregnancy is different – we love learning all that Alison has to teach us. Thank you for reading, I will now be posting monthly lessons; Alison is going to become more active and need more mommy time and less napping. Month four will be here way too soon!

Alison's Lessons - Week 12

My sweet little angel is already 12 weeks old. Alison Jean is such a sweetheart. She is growing up and turning into a happy little baby girl… the newness is still there with her sister but as Ali gets stronger it seems less scary.

Alison is still a very good grunter… when I whisper in her ear “burp for mommy” she tries so hard sometimes she pushes out a fart!

Ali never has been a 'binky' girl… she still doesn’t take a bottle very well either, unless I leave her and she has NO CHOICE! :) She is a great baby

Ali doesn’t always get a bath before bedtime, sometimes mommy has to give her a bath in the morning after the big kids are gone. It just depends on what the day brings and what time baths start for Jared and Gracee.

Alison loves her siblings… Jared really likes to talk to Ali and tell her about school, he hold her hand and gets right in her face… she likes it too, she coos back at him and smiles.

Ali sleeps on her belly… She goes to bed around 8:30 (just like the big kids) and is up around 4-6 just depends on how big her day was… then she is back to sleep until around 10am.

Alison is wearing 3 month clothes and fills them out well. She has some 3-6 month outfits that are still big but for the most part that is her size.

I know each week I say how happy we are and blessed… but its so true. The time is going by quickly and it has to be because we make it fun. From the kids Great Grandparents to Aunts and Uncles ~ Everyone in our family is helpful and loves the kids to play and visit.

Alison's Lessons - Week 11

Eleven weeks already, she is growing and staying awake much longer now… sorta nice but I cant get as much done… I want to look at her and play with her while she is awake.

Alison is in size two diapers. She only poops every other day now. I was worried when this started but now it has become the new normal.

Ali loves to watch cartoons with her brother and sister. I put her on the floor propped up on the pillow and Gracee gets on one side and Jared is on the other.

Ali has her own way of talking to mommy. I know all of her cries very well… the I am hungry cry has to get really loud before she will actually take the bottle.

Alison loves to take a bath, she just lays there like a good girl and lets me get her all soapy… then the warm water makes her wiggle when I clean her hair.

Ali made a trip to Grandma Kim’s this week ~ she was wide awake the entire time. Still very stubborn and wouldn’t take the bottle but was full of grins. Grandma Kim kept saying “wow she looks like her daddy!”

Alison went to the Cansler “farm” for the first time this weekend for a Labor Day hay ride and bbq.

Alison blows bubbles… it is so cute.

Ali and Gracee stayed the night at Memaw Donna’s house again this Saturday night. I had a photo shoot and Jessy had a pre-test in Pittsburg ~ then Faith in Action for church on Sunday. The girls had a great time and Stricklyn got to stay too!

To be a mommy is one of the greatest things I have ever done. I am proud to say I do not take my job lightly. Sometimes I feel like I am so strict ~ and expect more then most moms do from their kids at ages 2 and 5. We only have one chance to teach these little people what life is really about… we have a lot fun while we are learning. Alison has a lot to look forward to. Thanks for reading.

Alison's Lessons - Week 10

We are getting into the double digits… week 10. Okay so we call our newest little princess Ali more often the Alison. The other day at the doctors office they called her name and it took me a minute to say “Oh that’s us” I sorta felt silly, but its true we call her Ali.

Alison has been getting a bath at night this week, that is what I did with Gracee so I thought I’d try it out with Ali and see if she would sleep longer in the mornings. 5am makes for a very long day for mommy! She woke up at two once this week… ate and went back to bed and slept until I woke her at 7.

Ali is really more a fan of nursing then the bottle, we try the bottle often but she would rather cry it out and wait until she can have me… she is very stubborn (like her dad – wink wink) I only pump once a day.

Alison is growing up to be such a big lady… I can not believe how strong she is, she may start walking very soon! LOL

Ali is such a happy baby… she just started laughing out loud this week. And when she is cooing or talking she says HEY it is pretty cute.

Jared can not wait to teach Alison how to play with his blocks… and he wants to teach her to be nice to people. He asks each day “is she big enough to play yet?”

I have to remind myself to drink more water, I make just enough milk for Alison each day but I haven’t put any in the freezer for weeks.

Daddy and I put “Sisters are different flowers for the same garden” on the girls bedroom wall this week. It looks so good ~ we love our little flowers and can already tell they are going to be two totally different personalities.

The newness still hasn’t wore off for Gracee… she loves to get in Alison’s face when she is laying on the ground then Gracee says “Mommy baby Ali hit me.” This is going to be fun as Alison gets older!

I have already looked back to the first picture I had ever taken of Alison and she has changed so much, its not sad but it does touch my heart to know what has already past and what we get to look forward to.

What was life like without Ali? I can’t even remember… she is a healthy wonderful addition to our family. I love to look at her and imagine if she is as excited as we are to have her be a part of our family… she is a perfect beautiful baby that will grow to be a gorgeous little girl then on to a woman (not ready to start thinking about that one!)

Ali's two month snapshots

Alison's Lessons - Week 9

Alison is such a great baby, she sleeps like a champ and is a wonderful eater too! I can not believe that nine weeks have flown by so quickly. Ali and daddy like to relax in the “kick it back” chair and watch the races at night when they can’t sleep… she is going to be a race car driver.

With Jared being in school a full day (8-3) and Gracee going to daycare on Tuesdays and Thursdays… me and Alison have plenty of bonding time. She sleeps a lot but when she is awake I stop what I am doing to play with her.

Alison went over 36 hours without having any poo in her diaper, she used to be a regular pooper… almost every diaper was full. I had to give her gas drops for the first time ever 8-20-09. It must have been something I ate – I had some stinky gas too!

Alison takes a tubby in the morning after Jared goes to school – she is still such a great sleeper I try to wait until she is awake enough to enjoy the bath time.

Everyone still says how much Alison looks like her daddy… well I saw a few newborn pictures of Jared last week and it is true she looks a lot like her brother did when he was a baby, but she looks a lot like Gracee to me to.

Ali still loves that swing, she falls asleep in it almost each night, and may rock until two in the morning or sometimes just sleeps in there.

Gotta love those big dimples – I have been seeing more of her eyes this week too and at night she is one happy baby, after the big kids take baths and are in bed she coos and talks all about the dreams she had during the day. Big smiles are the best.

Here is a break down of Alison’s day: wake up at 5:30am diaper change and nurse, sleep ‘til about 9:30am diaper change again then 5 oz bottle, stay awake for a little while, then take a bath around 10:45am and nurse again, then it is back to sleep in the swing ‘til almost two sometimes later. When Ali wakes up its to eat about 3 oz and then look around, she loves to stare at the bright lights and talk to her brother and sister, then it is naptime again around 6pm, she wakes up around 8pm for an hour or so and then change into PJs and she eats 6-7oz and TV time with dad. Sometimes she falls asleep and other times she wants to nurse and sit in the swing… her bedtime is anywhere from 10-11:30pm and we start again the next day.

Alison is growing so well she weighs 13lbs and is 24 ¼ tall. We took her to get shots today and she didn’t mind the first one… but the second made her scream for almost two min (until she feel asleep) Alison’s head is 41.9 cm and her temp was 96.6

Alison stayed over night with her Memaw Donna 8-21-09, she is such a mommy’s girl I got a text at about 10pm saying that she didn’t want the bottle. After a bath and the swing Ali feel asleep at 10:15pm and had to be woke up the next morning at 9:15.

I feel so lucky to be able to watch all my kids grow, Gracee is such a wonderful big sister… she loves to give SOFT kisses to baby Ali and Jared is one GREAT big brother, always likes to see his baby sister before he goes to kindergarten even if she is sleeping, he kisses her feet (he tells us that she LOVES that). Thanks for reading our blog and learning with us.

Alison's Lessons - Week 8

Another week has flown by and my little tiny baby is getting bigger and bigger. Eight weeks old she has a two month check-up and shots next Tuesday.

Alison holds her head up like most three month olds. She looks around the room and follows your every move.

Alison is a mommy’s girl…don’t get me wrong she loves daddy too, but mommy is the key to a full belly and clean diaper every time. Plus I think she likes me almost as much as I like her.

Ali goes to bed at 9:30 and has been getting up around 6am every morning, it is nice to feel like I get more rest, even though my bedtime is closer to mid-night, Alison is still sleeping most of the day away but when she is up she is doing the WIGGLE.

Alison still favors her right side, when she sleeps or just laying on the ground looking around – it is always to the right, she went to the chiropractor for the second time today; just to try to help her out. We don’t want her head to be misshaped.

I can’t get enough pictures of this beautiful little girl; my favorite game is trying to get the perfect picture of that gorgeous smile, and the new expressions she is full of.

Jared and Gracee both love Alison so much, before they go to bed I have to bring Ali into each of their rooms at night and let them give her a hug and a kiss, they both tell her they love her and they will see her in the morning. J

Our sweet little angel is growing up so fast, everyone says “WOW she is getting so big” I guess we just make healthy sleeping baby girls! We all love our princess so much! Next week there will be more lessons and tons of fun.

Alison's Lessons - Week 7

Life is wonderful with little people around, asking questions and making you remember how precious each day is. Alison is such a blessing – I don’t remember what life was like before she was here. She is my doll baby, my sweet little piece of goodness. Seven weeks lessons coming right up:

Alison slept in her bed all night (10-5) for the first time, she usually sleeps in her pack-and-play in our bed room. But we decided she would be fine in her own room. I slept pretty well too!

Big Smiles… and Miss Ali coos, it is so sweet, I could just eat her up. She makes my heart melt every time I hold her and look into those glassy eyes - gotta love that BIG gummy smile with her cute dimples.

Alison is wearing 0-3 months and really filling them out, she loves to eat and then look around, so proud of herself for being a good girl. Her eyes are open more and more… Gracee says in amazement “Look Mommy baby Ali eyes OPEN”

Mommy has lost 25lbs since the day she gave birth to Alison Jean Willard!

Alison will drink from a bottle, however she knows who has the goods… so more often then not, she doesn’t take a bottle from me. Alison eats 4-5oz each bottle (and before bed sometimes its 7oz!)

Everyone compliments what a beautiful baby girl we have, how pretty she is and never cries. She is so healthy and strong we couldn’t be more pleased with her development. Next weeks lessons will be here before I know it – keeping track as well as I can. :)

Alison's Lessons - Week 6

Has it really been six weeks? Our sweet little Ali Bugs is growing up too quick Jared thinks she can talk, she doesn't really cry very often so a few time in the past week she will yell out and it sounds like she is saying HI or HEY! He thinks it is too cool! Another week of fun ahead - thanks for reading out lessons.

Alison wears size 0-3 mo. I had to put all the newborn clothes up, she is way too long for them. I still play favorites with the comfy clothes but I try to make sure she wears everything at least once.

Alison likes to be stretched out... she always has, she is so relaxed even when her brother and sister are yelling and playing around her. She just lays there and looks at them.

Alison loves her swing... sometimes she lays in her bed and falls asleep but most of the time she eats and gets a clean diaper... then it is off to the swing for about ten minutes of rocking and she is out - she did sleep in the swing over night on Thursday.

Alison is raspy and has a snotty nose... when i looked back at Gracee's six week lessons she was too, but I took Gracee to the doctor and they said there was nothing I could do. So I guess I will just keep sucking the snot out of Ali's nose and assume she has allergies too.

Alison loves her mommy... if she is fussing all I have to do is talk to her and she will stop (for a minute) then I usually fix the problem and she is fine again. She is just such a good baby.

Alison has baby acne... I have had a few moms tell me not to worry about it - that it is probably the way that her skin is reacting to being out of my womb. I keep her clean and lotioned up. Ali usually gets a bath in the morning but I think I am going to give her a bath at 7pm before the big kids and see if that will make a difference with her skin.

Alison likes her milk warm... when I can get her to eat from a bottle it has to be almost hot(and usually someone else has to feed her) it is like she knows I am the one that nurses and she prefers that so she wont take a bottle from me unless she is starving.

Alison nurses like clock work at night 8pm, midnight, 4am, and 8am. This week almost seemed like during the day I nursed her on demand rather then every four hours… and I had just enough milk for her too. I didn’t put any in the freezer this week.

I moved her pack and play to the bottom level and she sleeps in there now… she was sleeping on the changing table part of the pack and play but I don’t think that it is safe anymore (the big kids love to get the stool and give her kisses – I don’t trust that they wont try to pick her up one day…)

How lucky am I to be able to watch my children grow and learn each day they teach me something new. It’s funny to think that my job is to be the teacher when I am still learning so much. I love being a mommy and thank God for all of my blessings daily.

Alison's Lessons - Week 5

It still amazes me how slow the last few weeks of the pregnancy seemed… waiting to finally meet Alison and now its just flying by, we love every minute but if we don’t take the time to sit back and enjoy it we will all be old. That is one of the best things right now – not only having a five year old, two year old, and a little baby… but to be able to act one with them. My kids make my world go-round. Our tiny baby is already 5 weeks old – and she is growing up way too quick.

I swear she smiles at you… its like she already knows when and what is funny. The kids love to talk to her, and if she is awake she just stares back at them and smiles!

Luvs size one are way smaller then Huggies. I am still a big Huggies fan but since someone gave us Luvs I can’t be picky! They are more like a half size going from 8lbs to 14lbs and Huggies size one start with 14lbs… any who they fit and we use them.

Megan brought back our cradle swing this week (Madylon is too big for a swing… heck she is already trying to walk) Alison loves the swing… it lights up and makes sounds. The big kids really like to push the swing – a big no no. But at night when Alison wants to stay awake for a half hour or so she gets and the swing and next thing I know she is out!

Alison still sleeps A LOT. We get to see her eyes for about an hour early morning and then she naps from 10-1 and eats again. Everyone takes a nap until three and then we may see Alison’s eyes again for another hour… or not. Eats, sleeps, poops, and then repeats.

For a few nights Alison only wanted me instead of eating a bottle, not good for me at night. Plus if she needs to stay the night anywhere… it will be a nightmare for them. I am still trying to get my boobs regulated and not have to pump if she decides not to wake up.

Since it is summer time it seems like it difficult for Ali to keep her baby smell. She is always clean (I might change her too much) and with all of the kisses she gets she just doesn’t have that Johnson and Johnson baby smell all day long.

I am guilty of putting Alison in the clothes that are more comfy then cute. I mean she is a doll baby but if I like the softness or fit of an outfit and its on the top in her dresser then I usually put that on her.

One more week of fun coming your way – thanks for reading our lessons.

Alison's Lessons - Week 4

Alison already looks like she is getting bigger – I never remember looking at Gracee and thinking… "wow sis you have grown a lot this month." I guess knowing how fast your newborn changes into a toddler scares me a little bit. Alison is a blessing, she sleeps like a champ and is growing like a weed! She already weighs 11 lbs and is 21 ¾ inches tall!

Alison would rather nurse, and for some reason thinks she is running the show! She eats anywhere from 3 to 6 oz each feeding and will not eat unless the milk is warm.

Alison no longer wears newborn diapers… we ran out of newborns on Sunday so I opened a package of 1’s. They seem huge – Jared asked why I was putting one of Gracee’s diapers on Ali.

Ali has a very strong neck, she is already keeping her head up very well and trying to look around when you burp her.

Alison is so laid back, she can sleep through anything. Weddings, birthday parties, tons of kisses from her siblings, the day… she is such a good sleeper!

Gracee and Jared both love to hold little Ali’s hands, Jared on the right and Gracee on the left – while they watch The Magic School Bus in the mornings.

Alison goes to bed around 9pm and wakes anywhere from 2-4 in the morning to eat… she doesn’t really open her eyes just grunts and needs her diaper changed. Then she wakes up again around 7am for some more booby juice. Not staying awake much during the day maybe a half an hour here or there.

This week Ali went to her first wedding and her first birthday party (Jared turned 5) Another week of fun ahead ~we plan on going on vacation soon too!

Alison's Lessons - Week 3

Sometimes I wish I could stop time… I cant believe that we are already done with week three. Lessons are being taught and learned every day. We are so blessed to have such a wonderful group of kids. God is watching us and making sure we don’t forget life can be hard and overwhelming at times but such a treat at others. Here are the three week lessons:

Alison is full of gas… she farts a lot she sort of sounds like a whoopy cushion! She is a good burp-er too, I usually let her eat about two oz (if I am feeding her from the bottle) and then sit her up and burp her after whispering in her ear “burp for mommy” next thing you know she lets out a BIG BURP! Ali is a grunter too. Oh and I love the neck kisses when we are trying to get a burp out.

Still a great sleeper… the big kids can be dancing, yelling, fighting or whatever and Alison doesn’t seem to care, she sleeps through it all – thank goodness. Even the kisses… when the kids are playing in the same room as Ali and then they remember she is there sleeping they run over and give her tons of kisses… then continue what they were doing.

Nursing is hurting less and less – plus I am getting on a regular schedule nurse and then pump what is left. My right side is a milk making machine on average I pump 5 oz (after nursing) just on that side. At night I only nurse then go back to bed… that way when Alison sleeps longer then five hours my boobs will allow me to sleep too!

Jared and Gracee are both very good helpers – Jared still loves to baby sit and Gracee likes to get diapers when it is time to change Alison. Gracee has been peeing in her pants again… we were so close to having her potty trained, but “they” say that happens when you bring a baby home.

I am a picture taken fool… I know how much a baby changes in the first year… heck the first few months. I love every second of being a mommy even the frustrating times. I heard a country song the other day about phases of being a parent – couldn’t keep it together, I started crying like a baby.

Alison’s belly button cord fell off 7-8-09 right after her bath. Jared was so excited he couldn’t wait to rub her belly.

Until next week… another week of new lessons and growing up. Thanks for reading and learning (remembering) with us.

Alison's Lessons - Week 2

Adding a newborn to the mix of crazy summer life at our place has been a challenge for everyone, I have to tell myself to stop and just take a second to enjoy the craziness. It has already gone by too fast. Two weeks and we are working on getting back on track. Ali sleeps a lot and I have had to get used to nursing again… you forget how much it hurts after two years!

A nurse in the hospital told me not to cut Alison’s fingernails until after she was a month old. So I have had to fine them twice, they grow fast and I don’t want her scratch her face up.

I have to pump every four hours whether Alison is ready to eat or not… sometimes she is ready to nurse and other times I just have to relieve that pressure.Every baby is different. We have been blessed with sleepy baby number two! We are working on getting back on schedule… wake up at 7, lunch at 12 then nap soon after, dinner 5ish, bath and ready for bed by 8:30. It’s hard but we all need to know what is coming next. Alison got a ton of diapers at both of her baby showers… I think she got the perfect amount of newborns, size ones and size twos. We have tried LUVS, Parents Choice, and Pampers… Huggies are my favorite with her too.

I can always tell when one of the kids have been around Alison… she has had everything from chocolate to play-doh on her face from all the kisses they give her.

Alison is still a great sleeper, she averages 15-45 minutes of awake time each day… sometimes it is during the day other times it is in the middle of the night.

Another successful week of teaching and learning from everyone. We are so excited to see what life has in store for the up coming weeks full of lessons and summer fun… thanks for reading.

Alison's One Week Lessons

Life teaches us lessons every day – we can either pay attention to them, take note and learn or let it pass us by. I take note and try to learn, these are the lessons that Alison is teaching me. Every pregnancy is different and every baby is different… my girls are pretty similar but both very special in their own way. With these lessons I plan to make a book and give to Ali when she has her first baby.

At her one week check up Miss Alison weighed 9lbs 3oz and is 21.5 inches tall… her head is 14.5 inches around.

Alison poops every single diaper change… just like her sister. I wonder if it is just because they were both nursed – or if it is just me? Without thinking I ate a sandwich with hot pepper jack cheese, now Alison is paying for it. Her little butt is so red and sore.

Alison sleeps all the time. She wakes up to eat and get her diaper changed then once she has burped and her belly is full she goes right back to sleep. She stayed awake for almost an hour on her one week b-day.

Nursing HURTS! No matter if you have done it before or not. You will never forget the feeling – and getting up in the middle of the night just to pump… because the baby isn’t ready to nurse gets old fast too. I am ready to get my boobs on a schedule. I already have over 30oz in the freezer on Saturday.

Daddy loves to snuggle with Ali, she is so soft… got to love that peach fuzz. I remember when Jessy told me that Gracee had to sleep in her own bed, five days old and dad has someone tiny sleeping in his arm pit.

Baby Ali is special to all of us – Jared loves to ‘baby-sit’ Gracee loves to gives kisses and mommy can’t stop staring at her. We are so blessed and hope you read our lessons and learn with us… or remember fun things about your baby.

Willard Update - Baby Alison is HERE

Time goes by so fast, seems like just yesterday we were making the announcement that we were expecting another little baby… and now she is one week old. Alison Jean was born at 1:26pm on June 22nd 2009 – we are so proud to announce she is not only absolutely beautiful but perfect in every way. We have been blessed yet again.

Jared and Gracee waited patiently in the waiting room at St. Lukes with Papa Kenny and Memaw Donna. They got to come in one last time and talk to baby Ali through my belly button. Everyone ate lunch and played with play-doh then next thing you know Alison was here. Alison weighed 8lbs 13.5oz and is 21 inches long, she is so pretty and tiny compared to her brother and sister.

Jared went to his bio-moms on Tuesday and came back home after his t-ball game Wednesday night. Gracee on the other hand didn’t get to meet Alison again until Thursday afternoon. She stayed with Memaw Donna and Papa Kenny but kept running a fever of 100+ and couldn’t come around the newborn baby until we found out what was wrong. Finally after a long wait we were all back together again, everyone is still trying to get used to the change a new baby brings to a family, but we couldn’t be more happier.

It is really hard to believe that she is already a week old. Jared loves to baby sit his new sister and Gracee cant help but kiss her every time she can. They are so funny around her and usually don’t start to act jealous until they get tired or aren’t getting enough attention from daddy.

Life is good
. I feel great (a little tired) and Jessy is soooo busy right now with fixing everyone’s A/C we haven’t had much time to do any updates. We have such a great support system it is amazing – tons of volunteers willing to take one or more of the older kids to let us rest or just get a little extra bonding time with Ali.

The pregnancy book week 24, 28, 32 and 38

Time is going by so quickly with this pregnancy... could it be because our kids are full of energy and we have no time to sit back and think about it? Who knows... we are all really excited to meet our newest addition.

Gracee's 2 year lessons...

Has it really been two years since I pushed a baby out of my body (took three hours) and met her for the first time? It’s amazing to think that she is already grown up to be such a smart little girl and continues to learn new words each day. Her two year lessons…

Gracee is teaching us what it is like to be parents of a princess. Boys and Girls are different – no matter what you hear as babies, toddlers, and then on to children… they are different. Gracee is much more demanding then Jared ever was and she still has trouble with the 1… 2… 3… time out concept.

Gracee is getting so big -- She is already 29lbs and 35.5 inches tall.

Gracee likes to talk – still has tons of help from her big brother but for the most part she says what she wants… it gets clearer each day.

Gracee is now in daycare on Tuesdays and it has made a difference in her attitude when around other little people. She has always done well in the nursery at church but that is only a 30 minute time span. She goes to daycare from 9-5.

Gracee is still working on potty training. She gets two m & m’s when she goes in the potty and she loves it! She always gives one to her bubby! Going potty isn’t that hard its poo that she likes to run and hide then tell you to get it off when she is done.

Gracee is a good eater… now that we got past the two year molars. She will try just about anything. Some days she eats like a horse others she is more like a bird but she still loves her fruit and veggies. Hasn’t had a sippy-cup for over a month and loves red gatorade.

Gracee is a tom-boy. She isn’t into dresses very much anymore unless they are made out of t-shirt material and then takes it off right after church. She would rather wear her ‘working clothes’ and play in the dirt with her brother.

Gracee still likes to play with babies and I think she does a great job… feeding them, changing them, and singing night-night songs. She is going to be a great big sister.

I feel like I could go on for days but these are just the main points I could muster up while the kids play with daddy after dinner. Gracee is a wonderful little girl – we have been blessed in so many ways from all the new things she teaches us each day.

Baby Names

This is what I read:
"Naming your baby is one of the most important tasks you will ever undertake. The name is central to a child's earliest sense of identity, so the worst thing you could do when choosing a baby name is to rush into it. Settling for a name you are not 100% happy with may affect you and your child for a lifetime!"

And we think we may have a name... but... not for sure. Thanks for voting on our poll! Olivia was very popular, however it is one of the most popular names right now and we don't really want our little girl to have the same name as everyone else. We have one in mind we are very fond of... but still not completely sure!

Some names family and friends have suggested... Bella, Lily, Isobel, Hope, and Gillian. Leave a comment if you have a idea for our newest addition!

22 weeks pregnant

How our baby's growing: At 11 inches (the length of a spaghetti squash) and almost 1 pound, our baby is starting to look like a miniature newborn. Her lips, eyelids, and eyebrows are becoming more distinct, and she's even developing tiny tooth buds beneath his gums. Her eyes have formed, but his irises (the colored part of the eye) still lack pigment. If you could see inside your womb, you'd be able to spot the fine hair (lanugo) that covers her body and the deep wrinkles on her skin, which he'll sport until he adds a padding of fat to fill them in. Inside her belly, her pancreas — essential for the production of some important hormones — is developing steadily.

How I am changing: At this point, I may find your belly becoming a hand magnet. It's perfectly okay to tell folks who touch your tummy that you'd rather they didn't. And if people are telling you that you look smaller or bigger than you should at this point, remember that each woman grows — and shows — at her own rate. What's important is that you see your practitioner for regular visits so she can make sure your baby's growth is on track.

The pregnancy book

I have been keeping track of the baby in my belly... changes and stages we are both going through that way I can make a book to give to our child when he/she has it's first baby. Click on the image to enlarge... this is just a sneak peek of a few of the pages.

I keep track each week but just thought I would share a the monthly milestones. :)
